Dose the bike have a coil? Or just coil packs?

You've got to admit, the OP was a little vague

When mine was at the Dealer for the 25,000 mile service, they told me that a wire had separated from the coil pack #3. Before I took it in I hadn't noticed any loss of power or missing so I think they broke it when they pulled the plug wire off to replace the plug and didn't want to admit it. So I paid for a new coil assembly and plug wire along with the other service.

Bike still running great and when the Temp drops below 98 Degrees I'm going ridding again.

Interesting, I have a problem with coil number 3. I swapped out coil 3 for 4, sprayed contact cleaner in both boots and had no problems for 80 miles. The MIL light is intermittent, it's on and off within miles or start ups. Guess I should check out the wiring.

Did you notice any loss of power or anything other than the light coming on? Now wondering if mine was broke instead of dealer mistake.

Can't say there was a loss of power. But what I really don't get is why it's on/ off within miles. But then again there are 2 plugs per cylinder, maybe that helps with power

I have come to realize that if you go to the dealership they realize that you don't no much about the bike otherwise you would fix it yourself. It's good to know something about the bike before you get there so that you can put them on the spot. I had a 1700 motor replacing my 1600 cc. You would think that they would have loaded the 1700 tune. My bad also for not asking till it was too late. They charged me 65$ to install the 1700 tune telling me that it's a different ECU. I didn't know any better until the members pointed it out to me.
In my opinion they did me wrong because I asked them if they were going to hook up the data tool and check all the parameters in the ECU. My God they had the bike for months.
As I said I should have written down all my questions as time rolled on and have been prepared for the ass reaming. I didn't haggle the the price because I thought it would have been right. As someone once said experience is something you need after shit happens. For me do I learn by my mistakes? I keep making new ones!. As far as my on/ off MIL light I am baffled. I am not to concerned about until shit hits the fan. What did the dealership charge you for a new coil pack and wire harness? If you don't mind saying so. You didn't have any loss of power did you, just a loss of cash for there shoddy work that you can't prove

No loss of power and the MIL light never came on. That's why I thought it was strange that they told me it was broken. I'll look thru the receipts for the cost but it was back in 2015 so might take awhile. I bought the Bike in July of 2010 and do most of the simple maintenance myself but I do like to keep a record of the required ones (by Triumph) in case I ever decide to sell it. Having proof that scheduled work was done sometimes gets your asking price.

Sounds like they broke it. I would think that if you had a broken coil wire the MIL would have been lit. I need to reinvestigate my problem.

Have you checked for codes as being intermittent it could also be an oxygen sensor ?

Bender I have a PC5 on bike and O2 sensors are disabled. I not going to worry to much as the bike runs fine
